Introduction

The International HALE Building Council (IHBC) is a non-governmental organization composed of architects, medical professionals, designers, and thought leaders advocating for healthier built environments. Through its mission-driven work, IHBC promotes spaces that nurture health, wellness, and sustainability across homes, hotels, and communities.

As IHBC's digital partner, Millie + Rache Branding Consultancy supports the organization by maintaining, updating, and managing its website — especially in preparation for major events such as the Mid-Year and Annual Conferences.

Challenges

1. Dynamic Event Needs: IHBC holds mid-year and annual conferences with varying schedules, speakers, and registration details. Each event requires a flexible and fast-turnaround website update.

2. Content Management for a Mission-Driven NGO: As an NGO, IHBC produces educational content, member updates, and news. Maintaining up-to-date and mission-aligned digital communication is essential.

3. Multistakeholder Audience: The website must engage a diverse audience — from healthcare professionals and architects to urban designers, researchers, and general public advocates.

4. Reliability During Peak Traffic: During active event periods, the site must perform seamlessly, providing an uninterrupted experience for registration and live updates.

1. Agile Web Management for Recurring Events

We developed modular webpage templates that could be quickly adapted for IHBC’s Mid-Year and Annual Conferences. These included speaker lineups, schedules, downloadable materials, and registration links.

2. Real-Time Updates & Edits

We committed to same-day updates for urgent content changes, including changes to programs, speaker rosters, and conference logistics. This helped IHBC maintain transparency and professionalism even with shifting schedules.

3. Simplified Backend Processes

Our custom backend workflows empowered IHBC staff to suggest edits, while we ensured design consistency and functional optimization during implementation.

4. Ongoing Maintenance & Support

We handled bug fixes, hosting performance checks, plugin updates, backups, and overall site security to ensure the platform was always reliable.

RESULTS

1. Streamlined Event Turnaround:

Website updates for large conferences are initiated one to two months before the event. This lead time ensures careful planning, design alignment, and smooth integration of last-minute changes as they arise.

2. Improved Stakeholder Confidence:

Government partners, private sponsors, and members noted the professionalism of the updated site.

3. Seamless Navigation for Registrants:

Event participants praised the ease of finding updated conference info, especially for speaker bios and session times.

4. Consistent Mission Messaging:

Every event page reflected IHBC’s focus on health-centered architecture, reinforcing the Council’s identity and values.

5. Milestone Achievement:

As a result of the enhanced website infrastructure and event visibility, IHBC successfully held its first-ever on-site/in-person Annual Conference in 2024.

By ensuring that IHBC's digital presence remains clear, current, and aligned with its mission, Millie + Rache helped enable the Council’s transition from virtual campaigns to a landmark in-person conference in 2024—a significant milestone for a movement that continues to shape the future of healthy homes and living.
